Steve McCarthy LtCol Army (ret) 150th anniversary of the End of the Civil War

For April our guest speaker will be resident and retired Lieutenant Colonel Steve McCarthy serving our nation for 22 years. He is best known in the community as the skilled host of the Freedom is not Free series for the past three years conducting over 75 veteran interviews year to-date.

Steve graduated Summa Cum Laude from Norwich University, a renowned military institution founded in 1820.

To commemorate the anniversary and conclusion of the Civil War 150 years ago, and the surrender at Appomattox Court House, Steve McCarty will deliver a special presentation on this historical event. Through the years he has done extensive research about the events leading up to the fateful for the Confederacy of April 9, 1865 at Appomattox with General Ulysses Grant and General Robert E. Lee presiding. Steve is well versed in the Civil War leading several groups of history buffs through the Gettysburg battle site on numerous occasions. You will find his delivery and extensive knowledge of the surrender at Appomattox very interesting.
