On February 23, 2016, the world and SCA lost a true American hero with the passing of Captain Don William, USN (ret).
Don leaves behind a legacy of patriotism, heroism and aeronautical skills beyond any description. He served 4 tours in Vietnam aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. He logged 330 combat missions earning him 32 airstrike medals. During his Navy career he made 740 carrier landings.
At 35 years old he passed muster to go into our space program where he made 2 flights to the stars once as a pilot, later as a commander. His tour as an astronaut was what you would expect…flawless.
All that knew Don found him to be a kind and cordial gentleman; always polite, always caring. He earned the rank of Vice President Emeritus here at our veterans club.
We send our heartfelt condolences to his widow, Ann and his entire family. May God bless and comfort you.
All are invited to Don’s memorial service here in the Delaware Room on Saturday, March 26th @ 1400 hours
Captain Williams, you will be missed by your shipmates and many friends. I know you are now among the clouds as the Lord’s best aviator.
