Capt Sarah Shoemaker, USMC Cobra Helicopter Pilot

Capt. Shoemaker was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 4th, 1985. She is a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Aeronautical-Astronautical Engineering in May 2008. She was commissioned a 2nd Lt in the Marine Corps in December, 2008. She then attended naval flight school in 2010 where she earned her wings of gold on April, 2013. She then completed further training and was designated an AH-1W Cobra helicopter pilot in Feb 2014 and was assigned to Hawaii to join Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367 (HMLA-367). While stationed in Hawaii, she was deployed on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) located in Okinawa, Japan. She served aboard the USS Green Bay for 3 months of the deployment and made port visits to Australia and Guam. She subsequently moved to her current duty station at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego in July 2017.
