Larry Hattersley, NVDS Advocate

Larry Hattersley was on active-duty in the U.S. Air Force from June 1962 to September 1966.  He was a SGT -E4 in the Air Police stationed in Korea and Japan. And then served 25 years with the U.S. Marshals Service from 1970-1995.

He has been an SCA resident from 2000 to the present. He served two terms each with the ARC and Covenants committees.

Mr. Hattersley has served as a Veterans Advocate for the Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) for four years.  Primary duties are to help educate and inform active duty military members, Guard, and Reserve members, as well as veterans and their families, about the benefits that they may be eligible for.

Since 2003, he has served as a Nevada District Appeals Board Member for the United States Selective Service System.  

To earn the certification as a Veterans advocate, he completed 20 class modules that are taken online.  After completing and passing all modules, he was certified as a Veterans Advocate (VA).  A VA must be recertified every three years.  He also volunteers with the NDVS Outreach Director for Southern Nevada.
