Brigadier General Mike Brandt is the chief of staff who also serves as the commander of the Missouri Air National Guard. The Missouri Air National Guard consists of approximately 2,700 personnel in a C-130 Airlift Wing, an F-15 Fighter Wing, an Air Operations Group, a bombing range, and four specialized squadrons and flights.
General Brandt graduated from St. Louis University and attended Officer Candidate School. Upon receiving his U.S. Air Force commission, he attended pilot training, where he was recognized as a Distinguished Graduate and opted to fly the F-4 Phantom. While active duty, General Brandt served in Ubon, Thailand, flying combat missions in the Vietnam Conflict. In 1980, General Brandt joined the Missouri Air National Guard, where he was a member of the 110th Tactical Flying Squadron, known as "Lindbergh's Own" before moving on to squadron and group commander roles. Before his current position, the General served as Commander of the 131st Fighter Wing. General Brandt is a command pilot with over 4800 hours fighter time and has served in every capacity of Operations.
