We are pleased to have Sun City Anthem resident Colonel Robert “Bob” Stein, USAF, (retired) as our June guest speaker. He is a 1956 graduate of the United State Military Academy. Bob entered the USAF, completing his pilot training in 1957. One of his many assignments was as a pilot instructor graduating 6 student classes. Other numerous postings also included the Pentagon, Andrews Air Force Base, Training with Industry Program and service in Vietnam. In Vietnam he captained an AC-47 Spooky gunship widely appreciated by all ground forces as Puff the Magic Dragon completing 200 combat missions. Bob holds the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross (1 cluster), Meritorious Service Medal( 2 clusters), and the Air Medal (7 clusters), plus many other prestigious awards. His final Air Force assignment was director of ground systems for the MILSTAR satellite during the pre-contract phase. Bob retired after 27 years of exemplary service to our country.
